Nate and I are taking a quick break from our trip to Uganda to send a quick but sincere update to you, our Source Supporters. It has been a very full five months since the last update, both in Canada and Uganda, and we hope we can give you a sense of what has happened and what’s ahead.

Immediately into my first trip to Uganda, I was struck by the sheer amount of physical labour, planning and ongoing care that goes into providing clean water for Ugandans. From hand digging kilometre upon kilometre of trenches out in the hot sun; mixing concrete and fitting massive pipes; engineering a system that can carry water up and downhill for thousands of people; to equipping and empowering a community to buy in and care for the long term support and maintenance of this new infrastructure—the scope is much much bigger than I could have imagined. This has stood out to me as one of things that makes ACTS’ work remarkable. It’s not just a single moment—where water is ‘struck’ and gushes from the ground with everyone rejoicing. It’s the long game that requires the active participation, work, and committed care of many people.
